MPA Roses- Harry Ramsden's Rebrand


Brief
Re- brand and make them relevant again.Celebrating their past but defining their future.
 
Concept
Using Harry Ramsden's traditional image and modernizing it in an attempt to bring the joy of Harry Ramsden's to a younger generation.
 
Strategy
Designing a new logo and identity, with consideration to their past and applying it to numerous products within their restaurant and takeaway business.
 
Entry to the MPA Roses student competition working with a fellow student to re-brand Harry's' well known Fish and Chip shop. Our take on this project was to update the famous Harry's Fish and Chips and also keep the idea of its tradition. We felt that the brand needed a redesign that brought it back into the 21st century and updated to give it a modern but traditional feel with a subtle hint of playfulness. We started with the logo, wanting to keep the Harry Ramsden's traditional feel going and modernizing it with alienating their  current customer base. Keeping a similar colour pallet to their current logo, we injected a hint of playful imagery with the way the 'H' and 'R' are linked to look subtly like a fish skeleton. We focused a lot of our efforts on the logo as we wanted it to stand out from other competitors and for the customers to instantly recognize.
 
Wanting to keep their focus on attention to detail which they pride themselves for, we looked at the imagery of the beach hut, bringing the tradition back as this is where it all started. We thought this was an important element to concentrate on. Combining photos and screen printing together for the designs of our products gives Harry Ramsden's more of a handmade feel to link in with the ethos of the company.
